IVEMA - GILA Armoured Vehicles

GILA ARMOURED VEHICLE

The high payload-capability and ample interior space of the GILA military vehicles makes them ideal for personnel carriers, ambulances, command and control vehicles, logistic re-supply vehicles, and weapon platforms. All the GILA armoured vehicle variants have high mobility with excellent 4x4 performance, whilst offering high mine and ballistic-protection levels.
MINE PROTECTED ARMOURED VEHICLE

The mine protection levels offered by the GILA armoured vehicle exceed NATO's highest level (4b) of mine protection (10kg explosives anywhere under the vehicle). The GILA armoured vehicle is field-repairable after a double anti-tank (14kg) mine detonation within one hour.
VEHICLE ARMOUR PLATES

The high-hardness steel vehicle armour plates provide ballistic protection against 7.62mm x 51mm NATO ball and 5.56mm x 45mm NATO ammunition (NATO level one). Protection levels up to level three can be achieved by vehicle armour plates with add-on armour kits or increased hull-plate thickness, which provides ballistic immunity against 7.62mm x 51mm armour-piercing rounds.

The monocoque hull is fitted with a new technology drive train and military specification electrical harness. The armoured vehicle's Daimler Chrysler EURO 3 high torque (780Nm), 160kW diesel engine has a five-speed automatic transmission with lock-up and a two-speed transfer gearbox.
FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE DIFFERENTIAL LOCKS

The GILA armoured vehicle has permanent four-wheel drive differential locks at the centre, front and rear. The engine, transmission, and cooling pack and ancillaries have been integrated into a power-pack module on rails and can be removed and exchanged in less than an hour.

The suspension design provides exceptional on and off-road performance with excellent ride comfort to the occupants for extended operations. The design is focused on crew comfort, safety and protection, enhanced by an air-conditioning system fitted as standard.

The GILA armoured vehicle's exceptional 4x4 performance helps it travel long distances at high speeds and arrive in the combat area with high levels of crew survivability.
DRIVE TRAIN AND LEAF-SPRING SUSPENSION

The GILA armoured vehicle's new technology drive train and leaf-spring suspension allows high levels of tactical mobility, endurance and crew comfort. It has a top speed of 105km/h and a range of 850km.
HIGHLY-MOBILE ARMOURED VEHICLE

The GILA armoured vehicle is capable of easily driving through terrain with incline gradients of 60% plus, in forward and reverse gear. The armoured vehicle's large approach (41.5°), and departure (48°) angles enable it to surmount a 500mm vertical obstacle at crawl speed. Its turning radius is 8.5m.

All four wheels are provided with disc brakes and have an Anti-locking Braking System (ABS), as standard. The armoured vehicle's mobility is further enhanced by a Central Tyre Inflation System (CTIS), which enables the driver to adjust the tyre pressure while on the move to cater for all types of terrain conditions.

The armoured vehicle's high protection levels, excellent mobility, Run Flat Insert (RFI) wheels, automatic gearbox and good visibility ensures high levels of critical mobility when in actual contact with enemy forces.
FLEXIBLE TRANSPORTATION AND CONFIGURATION

The GILA armoured vehicle can be road, sea, rail and air (C-130) transported, ensuring excellent strategic mobility. It can also be converted from right-hand drive to left-hand drive (or vice versa), making deployment for peacekeeping missions easier and more effective, as the vehicles can be set up for the rules of the road in the area in which the mission is being undertaken.
MAXIMUM BATTLEFIELD AVAILABILITY GUARANTEED

The GILA armoured vehicle is designed around proven off-the-shelf components offering high levels of reliability and maintainability, as well as ease of repair and access to spare parts. Ease of field maintenance ensures maximum battlefield availability.
OPTIONAL GILA ARMOURED VEHICLE ENHANCEMENTS

An optional light turret can be roof-mounted between the driver and commander in front and the crew at the rear. The turret can rotate up to 360° and accommodate calibres up to 20mm. It is electric-driven but can be manually overridden.

A rear manually operated roof-mounted gun ring is also available, which can accommodate various 7.62mm machine guns as well as the double 40mm Multiple Grenade Launcher (40mm MGL).
GILA ARMOURED-PERSONNEL CARRIER

Currently, the GILA armoured-personnel carrier variant is in production and being delivered to a customer in Africa. It is expected that further production quantities will be delivered throughout 2007 and beyond.
